Artist's Comments

A study on limiting my brushstrokes. I would love a critique on this painting.

Composite from image by Sam Abell and other personal sources.

First of all I'd like to say that it leaves a very good impression. You created a very realistic scene. I really like the vague silhouettes of the trees in the back. They give the whole image depth.
The trees in the front are well structured and I must say very interesting. They make the whole painting eye-catching!
I also like that you added some small details like that thin root (if it's root) in the right corner.
The color palette is just wonderful! I like this shade of green. And the sky turned out exactly as it should be. But in the left corner it may be a bit too bright than the natural shade.
I think that you could use some more shades. The first tree in the left looks too bright and somehow flat (the green part). The same goes for the grass.
Everything else seems perfect to me.

Wow I really like the mossy effect!! You did it with oil paints right?
:iconcorvuscreative:
Yes, it's oil. The whole piece was an experiment in limiting the color pallete and brushstrokes. Thanks for the fav!
